Group Accommodation in Urnäsch: Centrally Located House for 176 People with Various Rooms and Activities for a Memorable Stay in Appenzellerland.

Welcome to the self-catering house in Urnäsch! Our house is centrally located, only 3 minutes walk from the train station and the post bus stop. It can accommodate a total of 176 people and is also suitable for small groups, as there are different rooms and a separate small kitchen.

The Mitel Säntis was built on the initiative of private persons in 1978/79 and renovated in 1999. In 2011, a roof structure was realized on the main building. The house has several floors with bedrooms, lounges and sanitary facilities. There are a total of 15 dormitories with various bed configurations, several washrooms, showers and WC facilities. On the first floor there is a dining room for 100 people with a projector and TV, a kitchen, a food counter, magazines, a cold storage room, a kiosk and offices.

The self-catering house offers a variety of activities for your stay. In summer you can swim in the nearby stream “Urnäsch” or visit the heated outdoor pool in the neighboring community Waldstatt. There is also a barefoot trail where you can feel the moss soil, a mountain bike trail, the Märliweg Urnäsch and the Lillyweg Urnäsch. For hiking enthusiasts there are countless hiking trails in Appenzellerland. In the area of the accommodation there are also two beach volleyball courts and a football pitch with artificial turf.

In winter you can explore various snowshoe routes or go for a walk on marked winter hiking trails. The Laternliweg on the Schwägalp is particularly romantic and the toboggan run from Kronberg to Jakobsbad offers a perfect experience. Skiers can use the Osteregg ski lift and cross-country skiers will find an attractive network of cross-country ski trails in the Urnäsch valley. The ice rink in Herisau also offers the possibility of skating.

In the surrounding area there are also various excursion destinations such as the Appenzell railroads, the Schwägalp-Säntis nature experience park with the alpine show dairy, the Hoher Kasten with revolving restaurant and alpine garden, the Wildkirchli on Ebenalp as well as various recreational facilities such as the Pumptrack Urnäsch, the Appenzellerpark (largest indoor playground in eastern Switzerland), the climbing hall in St. Gallen, the Gründenmoos rope park and the Säntispark in Abtwil.
